About This Treatment

What Is Lip Filler?

Lip filler is a non-surgical cosmetic treatment that uses hyaluronic acid to add volume to your lips, improve shape, and define the lip border. Hyaluronic acid is a substance your body produces naturally. It attracts moisture and creates plump, hydrated results that look natural and beautiful.

Your injector will administer filler into key areas using a fine needle or cannula. The process takes about 15 to 30 minutes, and results are visible right away.

What Does Lip FillerTreat?

Lip filler addresses a wide range of concerns, including:

  • Thin or flat lips that lack natural volume
  • Uneven lips or symmetry concerns
  • Volume loss that happens naturally with age
  • A faded or poorly defined lip border
  • Fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth
  • Lack of proportion between the upper and lower lip

Fillers can also help if you simply wish to add a subtle enhancement to your facial features. Whether you want to restore volume or add fullness for the first time, lip filler offers long-lasting results that give you a more youthful, refreshed appearance.

Ideal Candidates

Am I a Good Candidate?

Most healthy adults are great candidates for this filler treatment. It works well if you:

  • Want to look like a more confident, polished version of yourself
  • Are looking for a natural look rather than an overdone result
  • Have noticed your lips thinning over time and want to restore volume
  • Want to improve overall facial balancing and harmony
  • Are at least 21 years of age

Let your injector know if you have severe allergies, certain autoimmune conditions, active cold sores, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. During your consultation, your nurse injector will review your medical history, discuss what's best for your face, and build a customized treatment plan around your aesthetic goals.

Your Experience

What to Expect

Getting your lips done at Boujee Nurse is a comfortable experience.

Consultation and Planning

Your injector reviews your lips, facial structure, and skincare routine. You will discuss how much filler is right for you and whether a full syringe or half syringe makes the most sense. You will also talk about lip filler cost so there are no surprises.

Numbing

A topical numbing agent is applied about 10 to 15 minutes before the injection. The dermal fillers we use, including Restylane and Revanesse, contain built-in lidocaine that helps numb the area during placement. Most patients describe the feeling as mild pressure.

The Injection

Your nurse injector carefully places the filler used into targeted areas of your lips. The technique varies based on your goals, and the injection itself takes about 15 to 20 minutes.

After Treatment

Once your lip filler is done, you may notice some swelling and bruising. This is normal. Final results settle in over one to two weeks. Most lip fillers last around six to twelve months, and many patients schedule a follow-up to evaluate results.

Care Instructions

Pre & Post Care

A few simple steps before and after your appointment can improve your comfort and results.

Before Your Appointment

Start taking Arnica Montana tablets three to four days before treatment to reduce the chance of a bruise. Avoid blood thinners like fish oil, vitamin E supplements, aspirin, and ibuprofen unless prescribed by your doctor. If you are prone to cold sores, take preventive medication like Valtrex or Acyclovir for three to four days before and two to three days after. Filler cannot be given if you have active cold sores, open wounds, or dental work within two weeks.

After Your Appointment

Continue using Arnica and drink plenty of water. An antihistamine like Zyrtec or Benadryl can help with puffiness. Avoid massaging the treated area, as this can shift filler placement. Swelling and bruising typically resolve within a few days, and full results are visible in two to four weeks. If you notice worsening pain or fever, contact us at (303) 900-8751.

The Boujee Difference

Why Boujee Nurse?

When it comes to lip injections, choosing the right injector matters more than anything. At Boujee Nurse, we do things differently than the large medspas across Denver.

Boutique Care, Not a Factory

We are a small, intentional practice. You will see the same trusted injector every visit. That kind of consistency is what delivers natural-looking results and builds trust that no revolving door of providers can match. You will look like you've always had naturally fuller, beautiful lips.

RN-Led, MD-Supervised

Both injectors are Registered Nurses, not NPs or physician assistants, trained in cutting-edge medical aesthetics. Rachel Ross, BSN, RN, CANS, brings over 12 years of board-certified experience. Dr. Gregory A. Buford, a board-certified plastic surgeon, serves as Medical Director.

Honest, Safety-First Approach

We will always be honest. If less filler is the right call, we will say so. Our priority is your safety and long-term satisfaction, not upselling product you do not need. Every plan is personalized to your natural lip shape and what you want to see in the mirror.

Medical services are offered through Boujee Nurse by our RNs under Dr. Gregory A. Buford.

Common Questions

Lip FillerFAQ

The longevity of lip fillers depends on the type of hyaluronic acid filler used, the amount injected, and your metabolism. Most last around six to twelve months. Products like Juvederm, Restylane, and Revanesse each have slightly different formulas that affect how long results hold. Regular touch-ups help maintain your look.

No. Lip fillers made from hyaluronic acid are not permanent. Your body naturally breaks down the product over time. If you want to change your look, the filler will dissolve on its own, or it can be reversed with hyaluronidase. Visit our dissolving filler page to learn more.

Yes. HA fillers can be dissolved using hyaluronidase (Hylenex). If you are not happy with your results, your injector can reverse the filler quickly and safely in the office.

Most patients find the experience very manageable. A numbing cream is applied before injection, and the fillers contain built-in lidocaine. You may feel mild pressure or a slight pinch, but significant discomfort is uncommon.

The most common side effects include swelling and bruising at the injection site, which typically resolve within a few days. Less common effects include redness, tenderness, or small lumps that smooth out as the filler settles. Serious complications are rare when treatment is performed by an experienced nurse injector.

If you are a healthy adult over 21 who wants fuller or more defined lips, you are likely a great candidate. During your consultation, your injector will review your history and discuss whether lip filler is right for you. Active infections or pregnancy may mean you should wait.

Scleroderma and other autoimmune conditions can affect how the body responds to injectable treatments. If you have scleroderma, discuss this with your rheumatologist and your injector before scheduling. In some cases, lip filler may still be an option, but a careful evaluation is needed.

Stop using tretinoin (Retin-A) and other topical retinoid products around your lips for at least three to five days before your appointment. These products can thin the skin and increase sensitivity, raising your risk of bruising. Resume use once tenderness has resolved.

If you have a history of cold sores, your provider will likely recommend starting valacyclovir (Valtrex) three to four days before your lip filler appointment and continuing for two to three days after. A common dosage is 500 mg twice daily, but always follow the instructions from your prescribing provider.
