What Is Neurotoxins?
Neurotoxins are FDA-approved cosmetic injectables, often called "preventative" treatments because they can slow the formation of new lines. They work by temporarily relaxing the facial muscles responsible for dynamic wrinkles. The result is smoother, refreshed skin that still moves and looks natural.
At Boujee Nurse we offer four neurotoxin brands approved by the FDA: Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau, and Letybo. Your injector will recommend the best option based on your unique needs and personal goals.
What Does NeurotoxinsTreat?
Neurotoxin treatment works by reducing the appearance of lines caused by repeated expressions and muscle activity. Over time, the contraction of facial muscles creates visible creases that deepen with age. Neurotoxins target those muscles that cause these lines, helping soften the appearance of wrinkles and deliver natural, youthful results. Common treatment areas include:
- Forehead lines and forehead creases
- Frown lines and lines between the eyebrows (the "11s")
- Crow's feet around the eyes
- Eyebrow lifting and brow shaping
- Bunny lines on the nose
- Lip lines and lip flip
- Chin dimpling
- Jaw clenching and TMJ discomfort
- Excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis)
Beyond cosmetic uses, neurotoxin injections can also help with tension around the mouth and furrow lines. During your consultation, your injector will review which areas are right for you.

Am I a Good Candidate?
Neurotoxins are a great option for patients who want to smooth fine lines and wrinkles or take a preventative approach to the signs of aging. You may be a good candidate if you:
- Notice fine lines and wrinkles on your forehead, between your brows, or around your eyes
- Want to prevent the appearance of wrinkles before they become deeper
- Are looking for a quick, in-office treatment with no downtime
- Have realistic expectations for results that look natural and refreshed
For those with deeper concerns, we may recommend pairing neurotoxins with dermal fillers or full face balancing to restore volume and create a balanced, youthful look without adding volume where it is not needed.
Neurotoxins are not recommended for those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a known allergy to botulinum toxin type A, or have certain neuromuscular conditions. If you are unsure, schedule a consultation.
What to Expect
Your visit starts with a one-on-one consultation appointment. Your nurse injector will assess your facial expressions, discuss your aesthetic goals, and create a tailored treatment plan just for you. The number of units required will vary from person to person, depending on muscle strength and the results you want to achieve.
The injection itself takes about 15 to 30 minutes. Your injector uses a fine needle to place the product into specific injection sites across the targeted muscles. Most patients describe the feeling as a light pinch. No numbing is needed for most areas, but we can apply a topical if you prefer.
There is no real downtime after your neurotoxin treatment. You can return to your normal routine right away. Some patients notice mild redness or a small bruise at the injection site, but this fades quickly. You may start to see changes within a few days, with full results showing in about 10 to 14 days. Most patients enjoy a refreshed appearance and smoother skin for about 3 to 4 months. We recommend scheduling maintenance treatments every 3 to 4 months to keep your refreshed results looking their best.
Pre & Post Care
Before your appointment:
Take Arnica Montana tablets for three days before your visit to help reduce the chance of bruising. Avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medications like fish oil, aspirin, and ibuprofen. If you take a prescribed medication, check with your prescribing provider before stopping it.
After your treatment:
Avoid extreme heat or cold, strenuous exercise, and NSAIDs for the first 24 hours. Do not massage the treated area, wear tight headgear, or lie face down for at least four hours. This helps the product settle properly and lowers the risk of it moving to undesired areas.

Why Boujee Nurse?
At Boujee Nurse, we are not a big-box med spa. Here is what sets us apart for neurotoxin injections in Denver, CO:
Boutique care, not a factory. Our team is intentionally small. You will see the same trusted nurse injectors every visit, not a revolving door of providers. That consistency means better results and a relationship built on trust. Our patients say they will "definitely be back" after their first visit.
RN-led, MD-supervised. Both of our injectors are Registered Nurses. Lead injector Rachel Ross, BSN, RN, CANS, brings over 12 years of experience in aesthetics. Dr. Gregory Buford, a board-certified plastic surgeon with 25 years of experience, serves as Medical Director. You are in expert hands.
Customized, never cookie-cutter. We build every treatment plan around your unique goals, anatomy, and budget. Our goal is always to be honest about what will work best. We are not afraid to recommend less when less is the right call. The result? Natural-looking results that make you look like yourself, only refreshed.

At Boujee Nurse, we offer Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau, and Letybo. Other brands on the market include Xeomin and Daxxify. Each uses a form of botulinum toxin type A to temporarily relax facial muscles, but they differ in formulation and onset time. Your injector will help you choose the best fit during your consultation.
All neurotoxins work in a similar way by blocking nerve signals to the targeted muscles, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Botox is the most widely known, but Dysport, Jeuveau, and Letybo are equally effective. Some patients find that one brand works better for them than another. Your injector can help you decide.
Most patients enjoy their results for about 3 to 4 months. Over time, muscle contractions gradually return and lines may start to reappear. Regular maintenance treatments can help maintain a youthful look and may even slow the formation of new wrinkles.
Common side effects include mild redness, tenderness, or a small bruise at the injection site. These typically resolve within a day or two. Less common side effects include headache, dry eye, or temporary heaviness near the brow. Serious side effects are rare when administered by a trained, qualified injector.
There is no strict age limit. Many patients start in their late twenties or early thirties as a preventative measure. Others begin later when they notice deeper lines forming. The right time depends on your concerns and goals. Your injector will give you honest guidance during your consultation.
Neurotoxins are best known for reducing the appearance of facial lines and wrinkles, including forehead lines, frown lines, and crow's feet. They can also help with jaw clenching, excessive sweating, and a lip flip around the mouth. Some patients use neurotoxins alongside microneedling or chemical peels for a more complete facial rejuvenation plan.
