What Is Dysport?
Dysport® is an FDA-approved injectable made by Galderma. It uses botulinum toxin type A as its active ingredient to temporarily relax facial muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles. The result is smoother, more refreshed skin with no surgery and no downtime.
At our Denver med spa, Dysport is one of several neurotoxin options we offer alongside Botox, Jeuveau, and Letybo. During your consultation, your injector will help you decide if this Dysport treatment is the right fit for your aesthetic goals and build a customized treatment plan.
What Does DysportTreat?
Dysport injections target dynamic wrinkles, the lines that form due to muscle contraction and repeated facial expressions. Unlike static wrinkles, which stay visible even when your face is at rest, dynamic wrinkles only appear during movement. Common treatment areas of the face include:
- Forehead wrinkles and horizontal crease lines
- Glabellar lines (the "11s" between your eyebrows)
- Crow's feet around the eyes
- Frown lines near the brow and eyebrow area
Dysport can also be used to treat hyperhidrosis, a condition where sweat glands produce sweat beyond what your body needs. This includes excessive sweating in the palms of the hands and underarms. Learn more about our hyperhidrosis treatment.

Am I a Good Candidate?
You may be a good candidate for Dysport if you want to:
- Smooth fine lines and wrinkles without looking "frozen"
- Refresh your appearance with a quick, non-surgical treatment
- Try a fast-acting alternative to Botox
- Combine wrinkle relaxation with other injectables like dermal filler or full face balancing
Dysport works best for adults with moderate to severe expression lines who want to rejuvenate their look while still being able to make facial expressions naturally. It is not recommended for patients who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or who have a known allergy to botulinum toxin products. Your nurse will review your health history to confirm this injectable is right for you.
What to Expect
Your visit starts with a one-on-one consultation where your nurse reviews your facial anatomy, discusses your concerns, and builds an individualized plan based on your unique features and goals.
The injection process takes about 10 to 15 minutes. Your injector uses a fine needle to inject small, precise amounts of Dysport into targeted facial muscles. Most patients describe the sensation as a light pinch. A topical anesthetic can be applied if you prefer extra comfort.
You may notice minor redness or a small bruise at the injection site. These effects are temporary and typically resolve within a few days. Many patients see initial results within two to three days, with full results appearing around two weeks.
Results generally last 3-4 months, though some patients report their results last up to 6 months depending on metabolism and the treatment area. Your nurse will recommend a follow-up schedule to help you maintain that well-rested, natural-looking rejuvenation over time.
Pre & Post Care
Before your appointment: Arnica Montana tablets can be taken for three days before your visit to help minimize bruising. Avoid blood-thinning medications such as fish oil, aspirin, and ibuprofen. Limit alcohol in the days leading up to your treatment.
After your treatment: Avoid extreme heat or cold, strenuous exercise, and NSAIDs for 24 hours. Do not massage the treated area, wear tight headgear, or lie face down within the first four hours. This allows the product to settle properly and lowers the risk of migration.

Dysport contains a purified form of botulinum toxin type A, which temporarily blocks nerve signals to the muscles responsible for expression lines. This causes targeted facial muscles to relax, leaving the skin smooth and reducing the appearance of wrinkles. Muscle activity gradually returns over several months, which is why maintenance treatments are recommended for ongoing rejuvenation.
Both Dysport and Botox are FDA-approved neurotoxins that relax facial muscles to reduce wrinkles. Dysport is made by Galderma, while Botox is made by Allergan. Dysport tends to spread slightly more across the treatment area, which can be helpful for larger zones like the forehead. It is also known for fast-acting results, with many patients noticing improvement within a few days. Your nurse will help you decide between Dysport or Botox based on your anatomy and goals during your consultation.
Dysport units are measured differently than a unit of Botox. Patients typically need about two to three times as many Dysport units to cover the same area. However, the per unit cost is generally lower, so the overall cost of Dysport is often comparable to Botox. Your nurse will determine how many units you need based on your facial muscles, goals, and the specific areas being treated.
Dysport is one of the most popular injectable treatments in Denver for good reason. It delivers natural-looking, fast-acting wrinkle reduction with little to no downtime. Many patients appreciate that results often appear within a few days. At Boujee Nurse, every treatment is tailored to your face, so you get results that look like you, only more refreshed and confident.
Most healthy adults who want to smooth dynamic wrinkles are strong candidates for Dysport. Ideal patients have moderate to severe expression lines on the forehead, between the brows, or around the eyes and want a non-surgical option. Your nurse will evaluate your skin, review your health history, and confirm that Dysport is a safe and effective choice during a personalized consultation.
The procedure is quick and comfortable. After a brief consultation, your nurse will mark the injection sites and use a fine needle to deliver Dysport into the targeted muscles. The entire appointment takes about 15 minutes. No general anesthesia is needed, and most patients return to their normal routine the same day.
Dysport and Botox use different formulations and dosing scales. You will typically need more Dysport units per treatment area than you would Botox units, but each Dysport unit costs less. When you compare the total cost of a full treatment, the two are often very similar. Your nurse will walk you through pricing during your consultation so there are no surprises.
