Most adults with healthy skin are good candidates for microneedling. This treatment works well if your goal is to address scar tissue, refine your skin, or stimulate collagen without significant recovery time.
You may be a strong candidate if you:
- Have acne scars or other types of scar tissue you want to minimize
- Notice fine lines, wrinkle formation, or early signs of aging
- Want smoother, more even skin tone
- Prefer a treatment with minimal downtime
- Are looking for results that build over time through cumulative sessions
Microneedling may not be right for you if you have active cold sores, sunburn, certain skin conditions, or are currently pregnant. A consultation with our team will confirm whether this treatment fits your needs.
What to Expect
Your session begins with a thorough skin assessment at our Greenwood Village clinic. We clean the treatment area and apply a numbing cream so you stay comfortable throughout.
Once the skin is prepped, your nurse glides the SkinPen device across the targeted zones. The treatment typically takes about 60 minutes. Most clients describe the sensation as a light vibration with mild pressure.
After your session, expect some redness similar to a mild sunburn. This typically fades within one to three days. Many clients see initial improvement within a week, with the best results appearing after a series of treatments spaced four to six weeks apart. Results vary by individual, but most clients recommend three to four sessions for optimal results.
Pre & Post Care
Before Your Session:
- Arrive with clean skin, free of makeup, lotions, and oils
- Stop using Retin-A, retinols, and exfoliating products 3 to 5 days before treatment
- Avoid chemical peels, laser treatments, and microblading for 2 to 4 weeks prior
- Patients with a history of cold sores should take anti-viral medication as a preventive step
After Your Session:
- Skip exercise, strength training, and makeup for 24 hours
- Use gentle cleansers and moisturizer as needed
- Keep pillowcases clean and avoid touching your face
- Avoid hats and anything that introduces bacteria to open microchannels
- Protect your skin from direct sun exposure while healing

Most clients see the best results after three to four sessions, spaced four to six weeks apart. Your nurse will recommend a session plan based on your individual needs and skin goals during your consultation. Some concerns like deep acne scarring may benefit from additional treatments.
Microneedling comes with minimal downtime. You can expect redness and mild sensitivity for one to three days after your session. Most clients return to their normal skincare routine within 48 hours and wear makeup again after 24 hours.
Yes. Many clients combine microneedling with PRP (platelet-rich plasma) for a PRP facial that amplifies skin renewal and collagen production. Your nurse may also recommend spacing microneedling with laser treatments or a HydraFacial depending on your treatment plan.
SkinPen microneedling is FDA-cleared and safe for all skin types and tones. Our nurses customize needle depth for each client, which makes it a personalized solution for a broad range of skin concerns.
