BBL stands for BroadBand Light, a form of intense pulsed light (IPL) that delivers broad-spectrum light energy in rapid pulses to the skin. Unlike traditional lasers that use a single wavelength, BBL uses multiple wavelengths to reach each chromophore (color target) within skin cells. The Sciton platform is FDA-cleared and clinically shown to change gene expression in treated skin, helping it behave like younger tissue over time. Long-term skin quality improves with each session, reducing pigmentation, boosting collagen production, and producing a more even complexion.

What to Expect
Your BBL session at our Greenwood Village office typically takes 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the treatment area. Here is what the process looks like.
Your nurse will cleanse the skin and apply eye protection. A cooling gel may be added for comfort. The handpiece delivers each pulse of broadband light across the skin's surface. Patients describe the sensation as a warm, gentle snap, similar to a light rubber band. Pigmented spots may darken over the next few days before flaking off naturally.
Recovery from BBL is quick. You can return to normal activities immediately after your appointment, and most patients notice results with little discomfort. Mild warmth may last a few hours, but there is no peeling or extended healing period. Most providers recommend a series of treatments (two to four sessions spaced a few weeks apart) for best outcomes. Results are long-lasting when combined with consistent skincare and sun protection.
Pre & Post Care
Before your BBL session:
Avoid direct sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanners for 2 to 4 weeks before treatment. Stop retinoids and exfoliating products 5 to 7 days prior. Arrive with clean skin, free of makeup, lotion, or sunscreen.
After your BBL session:
Recovery is straightforward. Mild warmth and redness are normal and typically fade within a few hours. Dark spots may surface and then flake off over 5 to 7 days as the skin renews. Wear broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily and keep your skin moisturized. You can apply makeup and resume normal activities right away.

Sessions at Boujee Nurse start at $600. Pricing depends on the size of the treatment area and whether you combine it with treatments like Moxi laser. Our VIP membership includes monthly credits that apply toward your sessions. Schedule your consultation for a quote based on your skin goals.
This is one of the most studied light-based treatments in aesthetics. A Stanford University study found that regular BBL treatments changed gene expression in skin, making treated tissue behave more like younger skin at a molecular level. Most patients see clear improvement in redness, pigmentation, and skin tone within one to two weeks after their first treatment. Optimal results build with each session.
Melasma requires careful evaluation before any light-based treatment. The light can sometimes trigger additional pigment production in melasma-prone skin. During your consultation, your nurse will assess your skin type and history to determine whether the treatment is appropriate. In some cases, a chemical peel or targeted skincare routine may produce better results for your skin without the risk of rebound pigmentation.
This treatment is one of the most effective options for rosacea-related redness and visible blood vessels. The light targets hemoglobin in dilated vessels, reducing persistent redness and flushing over a series of treatments. Many patients notice a difference after their first treatment. It also helps refresh surrounding skin and improve overall complexion, making it a popular choice for busy patients who want noticeable results with minimal downtime.
The procedure carries minimal downtime, which is one reason so many patients choose it. The most common side effects include temporary redness, mild swelling, and darkening of treated spots that fades within a week. It is not recommended for very dark skin types or recently tanned skin.
